High Five for Friday + Friday Favorites!

Happy Friday and post-4th of July!

Hope most of you got off from work today?! While most people at the School of Nursing are out of town, I spent workin' away since things are C-R-A-Z-Y (if there's even a word to describe how crazy it really is!), but as my boss says, that's real life... she's one of the wisest women I know and has the most zen attitude, so while I'm freakin' out, she's takin' it one step at a time... I'm trying very hard to learn from her!

Weekend wise it seems pretty casual on our end... more gardening, taking our pups on a stroll, eating all these leftovers! that we can hopefully swim off with some laps in my parents pool :)

Now for some memorable events from the week!

1. As previously mentioned, I've turned into a red head and I'm lovin' it :) Katie with some sass!

Saturday I went into the salon as a blondie... BLEH!

2. Finally got the pups out on a short stroll in between the crazy amounts of rain we've been getting! They were giddily excited :)

3. After comin' home from a 4 day business trip in Chicago, the following night, Alex and I got to enjoy a special date-night.  We were going to go out, but it was DOWNPOUR raining off and on and having just come from downtown (my office is downtown), I thought I'd treat him to a special homemade meal that we could enjoy with candle light and pop our not you're cheap so we'll buy wine that we keep for special occasions.... Stayed tuned for this recipe comin' up on the blog next week :)

4. We didn't even have to leave our front porch to enjoy a fireworks show put on by our neighbors for this 4th of July :) While the pups were not feelin' it!... it was really exciting to beat the crowds but still enjoy the bright colors and experience :)

Favorite Fashion: Casual with a Splash o' Color I adore this combo because it's casual, but simple additions of color with the necklace and shoes give it a splash of color & perfect for summer! :)

Favorite Place: Las Vegas, NV We are not gamblers, besides my giddy excitement with scratch off tickets when I bother to buy a $1 or $2 ticket, but a) it's a totally different environment than Indy (and I'm referring to sans the craziness you think when V-E-G-A-S comes to mind) and b) Vegas is known for their cuisine... Seriously! I've read it in more place than one, so the various sites to see, craziness to experience and food-to-eat/drinks-to-drink, why have we have not scheduled our plane tickets?!?!?!

Favorite Space: Living Room + AH-MAZING Stairs I mean, seriously, how AW-E-SOME are those stairs?! I want this space + that couch + that fireplace + E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G. Just remove the colored dear head & Alex and I have room designed totally designed for us! Modern chic, but not so over the top that my hubs would say an auto "No" (marriage is a compromise my friends!... Modern gal meets historic man....

Favorite Food: Almost Famous Burger Cinema Grill is now :( closed where Alex and I met and fell in love, but as another year passed, I've become obsessed with recreating veggie versions of the classic & favorite menu items.  First on my list was the Kevin Bacon BBQ Burger that was a HUGE hit in this house, so I'm determined to try to Almost Famous Burger with the famous jalapeno cream cheese dressing, which was by far our second best sellin' burger, and easy to make veggie style :) SCORE! Stay tuned my friends!

Favorite Pup: Patriotic Pup I have always had a special place in my heart for super wrinkly dogs, so this is just killin' me! :):):) And he's standing so tall like a patriotic statue listening to the national anthem, but is just too sweet a thang to take too seriously!

Favorite Dessert Frozen Key Lime Pie Sorry for the picture quality :( but seriously, what is more sumer than key lime pie?! And for some reason, it is never on the dessert menu at restaurants around here :( so gosh darn it, I'm makin' my own!... Plus this is a Barefoot Contessa recipe so..... how bad could it be?! :):):) AHHHH, I crack myself up....
